Cruz’s Dancefit

Cruz’s Dancefit was created out of my love of dancing and, generally, feeling healthy.

My road to a healthy life has been challenging. Through my personal, difficult journey, I found health and wellness products that I loved and learned to use the movements that excited me to gain optimal health. It’s my firm belief that anyone can obtain their best personal fitness with small changes that, over time, yield tremendous results.

I have always loved dancing. We lacked the resources to formally allow me to train when I was younger, but that did not stop me. Growing up in the ’80s allowed me to study dance through the television, which I did avidly in my living room. I was always dancing and often won the talent shows at school for my dance moves. Later, when I sought a singing career, I had the opportunity to study with a private Choreographer which again allowed my love of dance to shine.

When I danced, I felt energised, I felt free, I felt happy. Fast forward to a few years ago, I realized that I had forgotten the joy that those songs, and those freeing moves gave me. This led to the creation of Cruz’s Dancefit. Combining songs from my favorite era’s 50’s through the 90’s, I created customized Dancefit classes designed to bring joy to my Dance-fitters. As an added bonus, these cardio routines build muscle through repetitive, easy to learn movements. I love helping my Dance-fitters re-capture the joy of dancing again!

Dance Yourself to Better Health!

Do you think you can dance? If you are not sure, why not give it a try? Dancing is an exciting and social way to work out your body. From hip hop to salsa, dancing works your heart, helps build strong bones and muscles, and can improve your balance. Because dancing is so much fun, you may forget you are exercising

The workout you get from dance depends on the type of dancing you do and for how long you do it. For example, hip hop dancing will give you a moderate workout. This is about the same level of exercise you would get from walking briskly or doing water aerobics. Most types of hip hop dancing burn about 260 calories in an hour.

More intense types of dance, such as salsa or aerobic dancing, will give you a more vigorous workout that is similar to jogging or swimming laps. You can burn up to 500 calories an hour with these types of dance.
